Apart from ordering a couple of the Latest in Beauty boxes last year, I never really fancied subscribing to any of the major beauty boxes because they just seemed to hit and miss - one of them may be amazing whereas the next month's would be a big disappointment. But, when I saw what bloggers were receiving in their monthly Cohorted Beauty Boxes, and how much of a struggle it was to get one before they sold out I caved in and managed to get my hands on the August one.
I was on holiday when it was delivered so I had to wait impatiently until a few days after I got back to collect it from the Post Office and finally get my hands on it.
So, you may have guessed where this is heading buuuut...I'm a little disappointed with it! The contents include: Bare Vitamins Skin Revver-Upper, Bare Escentuals Soft Focus Face Brush, Molten Brown Body Cream (sample size), Laura Geller eye shadow duo in Fine Wines and a Cargo eye shadow palette.
I'll start with the products that I like shall I?! I love the face brush; even though it's pretty small the quality is excellent and it's perfect for applying setting powder - it was good to try a different brand too as I usually stick to the same ones I already love.
The Bare Vitamins Skin Revver-Upper is my favourite product of the lot, I put it on just before my foundation as a primer and it gives my skin a luminous lit-from-within look which I've not had before from other bases. This is one thing that I would definitely repurchase in the future.
I also like the Laura Geller eyeshadows, the purple shade really pigmented and is great for creating a dramatic smokey look, and the light shade is perfect for wearing in the corners of the eyes to make them appear bigger.
The Cargo palette was the biggest disappointment as I just don't like the shades. I find them far too orange for me and unflattering, so I can't see me getting hardly any wear out of them.
Have you got the Cohorted August box? What did you think of it? xx
I like the sound of a couple of these products. But I find subscription boxes are so hit and miss these days that I'd rather save my pounds for a product on my wish list.

I hate cargo stuff, it gets in all the beauty boxes (Glossybox seemed to be obsessed with it at one point).. I'm not keen on the Cohorted boxes full stop to be honest, I'd much rather get one of the Look Fantastic ones, they always look good

I haven't see a ton of reviews on this box yet - such a shame it wasn't that good! The mini brush is so cute x
ReplyDeleteI haven't ever opted for subscription boxes due to this hit and miss thing. Overall, I would say this seemed nice but sorry to hear that these shades aren't up to your own liking. The brush though is the cutest! :D x

I've had the same experiences sadly, I'm always disappointed with beauty boxes, the products ... Getting lots of repeats etc. Sorry you didn't get products you loved on this occasion x

That's such a shame! I love the idea of beauty boxes but they're usually more of a miss than a hit. I do quite like the Glamour mag one! x

I used to sign up to beauty boxes but I found so many of the products were being put to waste as I didn't use them so I'd rather save my money and buy a product that I know I actually want. There's a few items that look great here such as the Molton Brown body cream and Bare Escentuals face brush but it's just a shame they're so small!
