HOT CLOTH CLEANSERS | HIGH END vs DRUGSTORE

Superdrug Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser 150ml £5.99, Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser 100ml £14.99

We all know know how important it is to remove our make up at the end of the day, and cleansers are one of the best and also quickest ways to do it - I'm always looking to save time on my routines so these are great for me!

I have two hot cloth cleansers in my stash at the moment and they are at opposite ends of the range to each other; one is Superdrug's own Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser and the other is the infamous Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish.  I've had the Liz Earle one since Christmas and before that I was using the Superdrug one, so they've both had a lot of use recently.

The Superdrug cleanser comes with its own muslin cloth and is obviously the more purse friendly option; at £5.99 you can't go wrong.  It is effective at quickly removing my make up and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, and the cloth does a pretty good job of gently exfoliating and making the skin feel really clean.  I'm not entirely convinced by the brightening claim of it though, I haven't seen any difference in my skin in that way but it hasn't done any harm and I'd expect to brighten my skin by drinking more water etc anyway.

The Liz Earle cleanser is the high end offering, at £14.99 for 100ml it is definitely more of a splurge.  This is also really good at doing it's job - there's a reason why it won so many awards and has cult status among bloggers!  Using this to move my make up leaves my skin feeling truly clean and literally polished - it's hard to explain but it just feels like it removes everything and my skin is left smooth and completely clean and clear.  A little goes a long way with this one too, which is a good thing when you consider the price of it.

An important thing to remember with hot cloth cleansers is that the muslin cloths that they come with need to obviously be washed completely thoroughly after each use, and they need to be replaced really often too - if not it will be pretty much wiping your face with a cloth full of bacteria which leads to break outs, yuck!

I really like both of these cleansers, and would buy them both again; however I do think that Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish has the edge over the Superdrug one, just because it leaves my skin feeling so clean and smooth.  If I was looking to spend less though, I wouldn't think twice about going for the Superdrug Hot Cloth Cleanser - it is a great drugstore dupe and does the job really well.

Have you tried either of these cleansers?  What is you favourite? xx

  2. I love my Liz Earle C&P so I'm always on the look out for a cheaper alternative so I'll be picking up this Superdrug one too. I just really love the smell of the Liz Earle one so that's partly the reason I'll keep on treating myself!

  6. I have yet to jump on this trend to try. I want to but with my skin being so dry this winter I've been sticking with the cleansing oils to wash/remove my makeup.

  7. I like the REN one. It comes with a cloth, but not a muslin one. I've also tried the Liz Earle, but I think I prefer REN. Haven't tried the Superdrug on yet.

  8. I've tried both and liked them both, the only negative thing that stuck me with the Superdrug one was the smell. I thought it was quite manly. I use a Philosophy cleanser now but Liz Earle have an offer on until next week so I might buy another batch and give it a go again.

  9. I've never tried the Superdrug cleanser but I liked Liz Earle too. However I thought I could get away with machine washing my muslin cloths only every two or three days, which you point out is not so! So I'm really glad you mentioned this, as I suffered a really bad break out and thought it was the essential oils in the product and it put me off needlessly for a while.
Anyway I'll be giving the Superdrug cleanser a go when my current Avene cleanser runs out!
