LIFE | CITY BREAK IN EDINBURGH

Hey!  I will warn you now, this post is a little photo heavy.  I have made little collages out of them to try and make them look interesting, they were fun to make if nothing else!  Last week I went to Edinburgh for a few days, it was my first time flying and I ended up really enjoying it - much to my own amazement!  We had a really amazing time, and it was actually really hot so that made it even better.  The shops in Edinburgh are amazing too - I am so jealous of any of you guys who live nearby!  I live near London but there's something about Edinburgh that it really beautiful - probably all the old gothic style buildings and gorgeous parks.  Naturally the shops were calling out to me and I made a few necessary purchases, and they will make it into a post all of their own!

The photos above are a mixture of some views from Edinburgh Castle and the Zoo.  Oh, and one is obviously of the view from the plane - such pretty clouds!  Edinburgh Zoo is seriously amazing; it is so big and there are huge open spaces for each of the animals they have there - it is by far the best zoo I have been to and it puts a couple of the zoos back down south to shame!  If you are an animal lover like I am then it is definitely worth a visit!  How cute is the little meercat?!

Being the photo whore that I am, I whipped my camera out at almost every meal.  Above are a few photos of my favourite meals:  on the left is a huge meal that my boyfriend Jack and I had at the Hard Rock Cafe.  The portion sizes were absolutely massive!  The cocktails are also from there, I had a Fruitapalooza (I think) and it was the best cocktail I've ever tried.  Hard Rock Cafe is a chain and the clue is in the name - up on the walls are mounted electric guitars and signed photographs of rock legends such as Jimi Hendrix, and TVs blast out rock anthems and their videos.  It is a little gimmicky but it's also very American and absolutely fantastic if, like me, you enjoy that kind of music and large quantities of naughty food!  The pretty plate of fruit is what was brought up to us from our room service!  We stayed at Novotel as a treat for Jack's birthday, and we tried out their room service and the fruit was amazing, so well presented and tasty!

The photos above are my standard tourist-y photos, including a couple more from Edinburgh Castle and the other two from around and about the town.

Top right is an example of the sort of healthy breakfast I was having..!  The mini barbecue was something we treated ourselves to, to cheer us up for being home again.  Overall the trip was amazing and we will definitely be visiting Edinburgh again one day soon.

This post was a bit of a departure from my usual make up related ramblings, so please let me know what you thought (if you made it this far!) xx
