CURRENT BEAUTY FAVOURITES | 10

The time has come for another favourites post - since I've been fairly naughty and bought one too many pretty things this past month or two.  As summer is very much here at last, I've been loving bright colours and glowy skin, as you can see from the bits that I've picked here!

Benefit Sunbeam is a great alternative to regular highlighter in summer, as it has a golden glow rather than a more iridescent one which goes well with bronzer and gives a lovely sun kissed look to the skin.  I apply this is the same places I would highlighter, for example my cheekbones, and it's subtle, light and reflective without being shimmery.  As with all of the Benefit liquid pots like this one, a little goes a very long way which therefore means this will last absolutely ages.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Photo Edition Foundation (oil free) has replaced the traditional Silk Creme, and as far as I can tell has divided opinion in the blogger world!  I however really love it, and my skin seems to prefer this oil free version.  I've had no break outs from it, and the look is still as perfect as the original was - medium to full coverage with a natural looking dewy matte (if that makes sense) finish.

I have already sung this palette's praises, but Maybelline The Nudes deserves some more!  This selection of neutral shades both matte and shimmery are perfect for putting together all  kinds of looks from day to night, and I've been using it everyday to compliment my bronzer and create a summery yet smokey eye.

Essie Fiesta has been on my toes for weeks already!  This is the perfect Barbie pink shade, and it brings out my tan (fake or real) very nicely.  The formula of Essie polishes is pretty much second to none, and although I usually opt for Barry M, I couldn't resist this shade and when applying it it's easy to see why it's at the higher end of the scale.

Last but most definitely not least is MAC Full Fuchsia, which is one of their amplified lipsticks which has a more matte finish.  I was really slow to the MAC party, but I can officially say that I'm well and truly sold on it now!  The variety of colours they have is unreal, and this pink in particular is bright, bold and unapologetically girly - win win.

Let me know what you have been loving this month, have you tried any of these products? xx

MAYBELLINE COLOR DRAMA LIP PENCILS | MY NEW ADDITIONS

If you caught my post on the first shades of the Maybelline Color Drama lip pencils that I tried here, then you will know that I fell in love with them!  So when I saw a few shades in Boots that I hadn't come across before, I picked them up straight away.  The lighter shade is called In With Coral, and as the name suggests it is a bright pastel coral pink colour which will be prefect come spring.  The other is Fab Orange and is a vibrant orange toned red, which I think suits me better than a blue tone red would.

In With Coral is a really feminine shade, and I can see myself living in this for much of the year.  It looks great when paired with a soft pink blush and natural make up.

Fab Orange is a bold red/orange and I love that this is one of only a few bright reds that doesn't bleed at all.  The pencil style of these products means you can create the perfect neat shape on your lips and when it's on it doesn't run at all.  This colour is ideal for nights out or when creating a classic glam look.

The lipsticks have an amazing colour payoff, especially when you consider that they only cost £4.99 each - these are seriously good lip products that I would personally pick over some of their high end rivals.  I don't find them drying at all, even though they have a very matte finish and they last for hours without the need to touch up.

Out of all the lipsticks I own, this range is the one I reach for the most and I cannot recommend them enough.  Have you tried the Maybelline Color Drama Lip Pencils? cc

FOTD | THE CLASSIC RED LIP

Time for the first Face of the Day post of the year I think, and I'm starting with my current favourite look - the matte red lip.  There is something about red lipstick that just makes you feel instantly better when you put it on, and the vast choice of shades and tones means that there is one for all of us.

My favourite red at the moment is the Maybelline Color Drama lip pencil in Light It Up, which has a velvet matte finish and the pigmentation of a much more expensive product.  I also love the fact that it is a pencil, as it makes its so easy to apply and create a good strong shape.  Bold red lips like this work well with a simple eye look, so I just have a coat of mascara on my lashes and some felt tip liner on my lids.

What is your go-to lip colour lately? xx

FOTD | feat. Bourjois Healthy Mix & Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo

DSC_0534
Hydraluron Moisture Booster, No.7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream, Seventeen Stay Don’t Stray Primer, Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer, Benefit Rockateur Blusher, GOSH Brow Pen, Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in Pomegranate, Maybelline Master Smokey Eyeliner, Maybelline Felt Tip Liner, MaxFactor Masterpiece Max Mascara, Maybelline Fit Me Powder, Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum.

This is one of those photos that was achieved after around 234343545422189867.654 attempts, and even now I’m not feeling it at all so I have resigned myself to thinking that it was a bad day for taking blog photos.  Anyhow, this is my current everyday face!  It is made up pretty much entirely of drug store products, which isn’t unusual for me since I can only buy high end make up as a treat.  I have been using Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation for a while, which I love but then I stumbled across this Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation and became curious.  I love everything about this base, I can see why Healthy Mix is very hyped amongst bloggers!  The coverage is good, which is the first thing I always look for, and I love the dewy but not shiny finish it leaves.  The only thing is that I am paler now than when I bought this back in the summer so I probably be better off with a shade lighter than this one.
Maybelline is getting a lot of love from me lately, as you can see from my list of products.  I think they have some really good eye make up lately and the 24hr Colour Tattoos are my latest favourites.  I am wearing the shade Pomegranate and in my opinion it brings out the colour of my eyes, which was a bit of a surprise at first but not an unwelcome one!
My trusty Revlon Lip Butter is on my lips, and the best thing about wearing these is that they keep your lips moisturised all day.  I suffer from ridiculously dry lips all through the year so when I discovered these I was so so happy, and I pretty much chucked my boring vaseline tin out of the window with glee.  I actually still have the Vaseline, but it sits unloved in a distant drawer for now.
What have you been loving in your daily make up lately?  Do you love any of the same products as me? xx

Review | Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in ‘Pomegranite’

Ah, the much loved Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoos!  I resisted buying these for a very long time, the colours tempted me a lot but I was worried that I would get the dreaded crease in the eyelid after wearing this for a short while.  I struggle to keep the crease line away even if I use a good eye primer, and cream eye shadows are notorious for making it worse than regular powder eye shadows do.
Inevitably, I ended up buying a couple of these beauts, the one seen here is Pomegranite and the other that I haven’t got round to trying properly yet is Permanent Taupe.  This one is a gorgeous deep berry shade that is perfect for the autumn/winter season.  It is quite a festive colour that won’t look too out place at upcoming Christmas parties,  and the best bit is that it is perfect for bringing out the colour of your eyes.  I can’t comment on green or brown eyes unfortunately, but I have blue eyes and I usually find myself sticking to neutral/bronze/copper shades that bring out the tone of them.  However I noticed straight away that this berry shade really made my eyes pop, and not even in a scary, psycho way that I have sadly experienced before!  I did try and take a few photos to back me up on this, but I am currently in the grip of my first cold of the autumn season, so needless to say, I do not look entirely healthy right now (HELLO darker circles than normal and a traffic-light-red nose).  I will do a Face of the Day post later in the week hopefully when I look a bit more human and will feature the eye shadow in it.
Another good thing I have found with this product is that if I apply it gently with my fingers, I can control whether I want a subtle layer of colour or if I want a bold, deep look instead.
Have you tried any of the Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoos?  What do you think of this shade? xx

Face of the Day

Face of the Day

Clinique Even Better Foundation, Maybelline Fit Me powder, Benefit They’re Real Mascara, Benefit Sugerbomb Blusher, Urban Decay Naked 2 ‘half baked’, Maybelline liquid eyeliner, Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes kit (brows), Revlon Lip Butter ‘Sorbet’

Hey!  Face of the Day post today, I’m wearing all the new make up that I bought last weekend and thought I’d show it all in action.  This photo doesn’t do the Clinique Even Better foundation justice, it actually has a really dewy finish that makes my skin look really healthy for once.  When I do a full review of it I’ll try and get a better picture of it.  So far I’m loving it and it’s oil free so should be fine for my oily combination skin.

The Benefit They’re Real mascara was a repurchase, so I already knew it was good!  I still think that my favourite mascara of all time is MaxFactor False Lash Effect because of the amazing volume as well as the lengthening, but my eyes are a little sensitive to it for some reason :( so I have left it off for quite a while.

The Revlon lip butter in ‘sorbet’ is another very recent purchase, and I’m loving it as much as the other shade I have.  These lip colours are great for daytime and the fact they’re moisturising too means it’s a win win situation for me!

I haven’t reviewed the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette on here before because I thought that there were more than enough reviews of it out there already!  I really enjoy using it, the shades are a great match for my pale skin tone and so many different looks can be created with them.  It’s very pricey, but if this lasts me for ages which I think it will, then I don’t mind.

My hair was put into my trusty hair donut for the day, because it was looking rubbish so I had to put it up.
What make up have you been loving lately?  Have you tried any of the products that I’m currently using? xx

Review | Mabelline Fit Me Powder

Maybelline Fit Me Powder

Hey!  Today I thought I’d share my thoughts on Maybelline Fit Me Powder which I bought recently.

In an ideal world I would totally avoid wearing powder, I love the dewy look and am always on the lookout for foundations and bases that help to achieve this.  I watch every episode of Made in Chelsea and drive myself mad with envy – HOW do those girls have such glowing skin?  Every single one of them!!  There must be something in the air in Chelsea, or maybe they exfoliate with £50 notes or something?  We shall never know.

Anyway, this is not an ideal world.  In the real world I have an oily t-zone that needs controlling throughout the day, and this is where powder comes in.

I have previously used MaxFactor Creme Puff to set my make up (which I liked the smell of for some reason) but I wanted something a bit lighter as this often felt to clogging for my t-zone.  I picked up this powder along with a couple of other things in the 3 for 2 offer at Boots, and I’m pretty glad I did.

I’ve been trying this out for about 2 weeks now, and the one main thing that I’ve noticed is that this is very light and doesn’t sink into my pores, which was a big problem before.  This is so light that I hardly notice that it is there, I only remember that it is because it takes the shine away from around my nose, yay!

The powder is really light and very soft, applying it is a dream because a little goes a long way, and it also lasts a good few hours before I have to touch it up.

I think this is a great budget buy, especially as there are all these ‘miracle’ powder turning up in places like Space.nk that cost 3 times as much.  I would definitely consider repurchasing this powder.

Have you tried this Mabelline Fit Me Powder? xx
