MUA LUXE VELVET LIP LACQUER IN 'FUNK'

MUA Velvet Lip Lacquer - £3, Superdrug

I' ve been meaning to try a few different bits from MUA and Make Up Revolution for a while now, so I recently hit my local Superdrug to see what what they had to offer.  I'm always a sucker for a lipstick so of course my eyes were immediately drawn to their various lip products, which happened to be at bargain prices.  Some of MUA's regular lipsticks didn't look particularly pigmented but their Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers caught my eye straight away because of their vibrant colours.  I picked up Funk as it looked like a bright and super bold pink, which I thought would be perfect for Spring.

The packaging is pretty sleek and simple, which makes it look more expensive than it is.  The applicater is a classic doe foot style, which makes applying it easy.  The colour is absolutely insane, it is the brightest pink I've ever owned!  It is very nearly neon pink, which is a bit much for day to day wear for me, so although I actually really like the bright pop of colour I can't seeing me wearing it unless I'm on a night out.  The pigment is really good for a budget product, and it dries very quickly.  However, unless your lips are in good condition, it can show up any dryness and cling to it which as you can imagine isn't a good look.  The finish is matte, and it does last a long time once on which is great, but I don't think I would repurchase it as it just ended up highlighting all the little dry bits and imperfections on my lips!

I think this is a good going out lipstick if you're on a budget, and if you're lips are in good condition then I'm sure you'll love it, but it's just not that good on mine sadly!

Have you tried this lipstick?  What did you think of it? xx

  1. I have a few of these. Love the colours of them buuuuut I hate the texture!! I have to put a creamy product on top (like vaseline or something similar!) to make it feel better!

  2. I have a red one of these and I really don't get on with how they set on the lips. They're just not creamy enough for me which is such a shame as the shades and the longevity are really lovely!

  3. Wow this looks stunning on, I’ve been wary of these however as I heard the same about them clinging to any dry patches on the lips which is never good for in the winter. I’m tempted to give one a shot however :)

  5. how do you manage to pull off so many colours?! I just can't haha, it's a shame about the formula, sounds similar to lime crime velvetines but worse; it wouldn't be good on my lips because I know it'd just highlight any dry/loose skin
